Hello, I upgraded to iOS 4, and it seems that Apple has been slow with the app updates, so I was just wondering, what apps are you aware of that can take advantage of one of the 7 multitasking APIs?

Almost all of my apps multitask now! Yay! But I would still like to see signatures in and in app SMS, (not that kind of in app email junk) for the Messages app.

From Engadget:

List:

  • Dropbox: Everyone's favorite file-syncing tool can now sync and complete uploads in the background, and also adds in support for fast app switching.

  • Evernote: the notes-in-the-cloud app adds support for fast app switching, and can continue to record audio notes in the background.

  • Pandora: Yes, you can finally play Pandora in the background -- and the quick music controls on the left-most panel of the app switcher even control playback when it's in the background.

  • New York Times: Nothing major, but the Gray Lady supports fast app switching, so you can jump right back into an article without reloading.

  • ESPN ScoreCenter: Supports fast app switching, although you'll still have to open it up for scores to refresh.

  • How to Cook Everything: Funny that a cookbook is one of the first iOS4 apps out there, but we're Mark Bittman fans, so this is pretty cool -- it supports fast app switching, so you don't have to reload a recipe every time you close the app. Oh, and it's got newer high-res art for the iPhone 4

  • Fandango: Now has fast app switching, so you can juggle other tasks while buying your movie tickets.

  • LinkedIn: Yep, LinkedIn's iPhone app adds fast app switching to the mix.

-Tweetaholic: This Twitter app supports fast app switching, and can also refresh your timeline in the background.

  • Twitter

  • Toobz

  • TuneIn Radio

Please check to make sure your links work in the future. I fixed it this time ;)

Did you read the post about editing people post http://lockergnome.net/questions/32297/moderation-and-editing-privileges-on-this-site, please just comment on it and I will fix it. Also, when you edited the post, you broke the top link.

(Jun 28 '10 at 18:35) kevin ♦♦ kevin's gravatar image

This is the gratitude I get! Next time clean up your own messes in a timely fashion! 3 days and you did nothing to fix your own blunder. Some people appreciate nothing... so lazy and rude.

(Jun 28 '10 at 18:40) refrwfrwgrfd refrwfrwgrfd's gravatar image

well, I have to address many answers and help many people and sometime cannot find the little mistakes I made which was small. You only reported a typo in the link in less than 10 minutes and I fixed it as quickly as possible.

(Jun 28 '10 at 18:43) kevin ♦♦ kevin's gravatar image

I don't even know why you're getting on my case anyway! What about all the times people have edited my posts for less...

(Jun 28 '10 at 18:44) refrwfrwgrfd refrwfrwgrfd's gravatar image

I just have to warn you that you may possibly loose karma for doing that if you continuously do that. Please read up on the link I posted earlier from Chris.

(Jun 28 '10 at 18:46) kevin ♦♦ kevin's gravatar image

And I have to remind you, that people (lots of people) have edited by posts for less. Plus, I don't edit posts that often. I think you're just getting on my case because I have less karma than you, you're a karmaist (like a racist, but for karma). You're offending me right now!

(Jun 28 '10 at 18:47) refrwfrwgrfd refrwfrwgrfd's gravatar image

I didn't even know that you have less karma then me. I just want to help you to prevent you getting knocked down by an admin

(Jun 28 '10 at 18:49) kevin ♦♦ kevin's gravatar image

If I had just posted "your link doesn't work" someone would have came along and said "why didn't you just edit it".

Either way I can't win. I'm dammed if I do, and I'm dammed if I don't. It seems like everyone on this site has done everything they could to make me feel unwelcomed. I've felt that way since I joined this site. Maybe I should just leave this site.

(Jun 28 '10 at 18:56) refrwfrwgrfd refrwfrwgrfd's gravatar image

I kind of doubt, it. Based on the Rule Chris posted, it is discouraged that users should not edit other users's post.

(Jun 28 '10 at 18:58) kevin ♦♦ kevin's gravatar image

Example 1: I made a post once with a link to an article, the link was within the words "Source Article" and Michael edited it to show the full url, with the excuse "So no one thinks it's a spam link."

Example 2: Someone made a typo, I posted "You should fix that" some other random person (not the OP) made the comment "Why didn't you just fix it for him?"

Example 3: You're giving me a hard time right now about this.

So to your "I kind of doubt it" comment, either you're blind to what other people are doing, or you know and just don't care (but for some reason are coming down hard on me).

More reason for me to think people on here don't like me for some reason.

Wow. Seriously? Why all the fuss? We have made it pretty clear when it is okay to edit a post, and when it is not. Kevin did the right thing by pointing you to the post that we made about the issue. It seems pretty cut and dried to me.

(Jun 28 '10 at 20:57) Kat ♦♦ Kat's gravatar image

Then why was it ok for Michael to edit my post here: http://lockergnome.net/questions/33548/bios-will-be-dead-in-3-years

Like I said, it seems "ok" for others to edit MY posts, but I get lip when I try to edit others?

You both have failed to tell me why it's ok for this to happen?

(Jun 28 '10 at 21:11) refrwfrwgrfd refrwfrwgrfd's gravatar image

That post was edited on the same day the post about editing was sent out and it takes some time for people to know that.

(Jun 28 '10 at 21:17) kevin ♦♦ kevin's gravatar image

It doesn't change the fact. I'm tired of your excuses. Just leave me alone now and stop trying to push your weight around.

Kevin is trying to push nothing around. I, however, am. Enough with the temper tantrum. Michael hasn't even been on the site in at least two weeks. His edit was done BEFORE Chris and I set forth the guidelines that were linked to. You cannot continue to claim he is editing your posts, because he is not.

If anyone IS editing things that they should not, it should be brought to my attention to deal with instead of posting about it repeatedly here on the forums. That isn't going to get anything accomplished other than gaining someone a ban.

(Jun 28 '10 at 21:28) Kat ♦♦ Kat's gravatar image

Kat, I would really appreciate it if you just leave me alone about this. Please do no post any more comments about this to me. You're being very immature right now. When I have already requested to be left alone, and yet you're still going on about it.

And I didn't say he kept editing my posts, learn to read. I said he did edit, and linked to the post as an example. MANY people have been editing my posts, including but not limited to, ageekmom. Posts that had no business being edited, and long after Chris posted that.

Now stop!

Apparently you forgot when jakek090 went "crazy" last week and randomly closed posts? No one bagged on him for it, so leave me alone!

(Jun 28 '10 at 21:32) refrwfrwgrfd refrwfrwgrfd's gravatar image

How about YOU stop, Eric? It is my job to post comments when they are needed. If you don't like them, that isn't my fault. Your comments and immature attitude were reported to me by FOUR separate people.

I suggest that you calm down and step back a few moments. You need to rethink the way you talk to people here, and how you act.

Pandora which is probably obvious, I'm not sure about any other apps yet though.

In terms of gaming, Touchgrind and Real Racing have been the only apps that I own so far that have been updated to support multi-tasking, but these apps work really well with this feature once updated. It'd be great to see updates for apps such as Rjdj and Spotify to support multi-tasking, but I'm guessing these apps will require a lot of work before the developers can effectively make use of the feature.

Pandora, Twitter, YouTube: These are the ones I have experienced multitasking with. I would REALLY like to see LAST.FM get it though.
