Thinking about buying one of the F-Series Vaio's because they are quite cheap compared to other laptops with core i7's. So, are they reliable?

Yep, some of my friends have vaio laptops and they run pretty well and don't seem to randomly fail.

I repair many laptops and the only times I needed to repair a vaio laptop was when someone broke the LCD and I replaced it.

other than that, the most common laptop I get to repair is the HP's, I get around 3-5 HP laptops a month

I also get some dells but the problems with them are more focused on the power adapter and the dell marketing crap. in there power bricks is 3 wires, 2 for power and 1 for data. this allows the laptop to identify the adapter, if it cant, the laptop will run in reduced performance mode (half of it's original speed)

this forces them to buy a new power brick even when the old one is fine, other than the little chip that id's the power brick
