Of course I like using wifi on a plane, the only problem is how much they charge you.

Yes I would enjoy it if the next plane I got on offered it since most of my flights are all longer than 5 hours and usually cross either the Pacific or Atlantic oceans.

More carriers should add WiFi to trans oceanic flights. So far Lufthansa is the only one that does. Lufthansa was the first airline to introduce WiFi on planes through a partnership with Boeing but Boeing canceled the program do to lack of interest by other airlines. But now Panasonic partnered with Lufthansa again to offer the same WiFi type of service.

Lufthansa's WiFi works because signals are transmitted via an antenna on top of the plane to satellites. All other airlines use a service that transmits the signals to ground stations and are thereby limited to offering WiFi only over land.

I haven't yet got the chance for Wi-Fi on a plane. Mainly because I'm from Ireland and they are usually so far behind in any advancements in technology. I am flying to New York in September so hopefully there will be a chance to try it out.

Google gifts free in-flight Wi-Fi | Google has teamed up with several airlines to provide free in-flight Wi-Fi. The free service will go on through the holidays. Airlines that will support the promotion include Virgin America, AirTran Airways and Delta ... more

The holidays are about family and friends getting together and celebrating. Of course, this usually requires considerable amounts of air travel.

Being 30,000 feet in the air used to be a barrier for data connections. But more and more, Wi-Fi is becoming available in the skies. Usually this comes with a pretty hefty price tag, though.

But this holiday season Google and a few airlines are giving you an awesome gift: free in-flight Wi-Fi.

*Freeholidaywifi.com gives you all the details you need to know. Find out which airlines are supporting the promotion. And learn how long the free service will last.*

I rarely fly, but if I do it's gonna be long haul, because I prefer to drive if it's only a few hundred miles.

I usually listen to music, or read. I can't ever sleep - it's too noisy and uncomfortable for me. I'd like to be able to have wi-fi as that would be a good way to pass the time.

I'll be flying transatlantic soon, but I'm sure if it will be available. It would pass a tedious long flight if it is though!

While I like the connectivity and convenience of WiFi in-flight, it's nothing next to the 'old days' where flying on an airplane was the entertainment.

I'll enjoy it when it's free. The last flight I was on charged $10 for a 2 hour flight.

There is a way to bypass the costs on some airlines. Lifehacker had an article about it somewhere. Basically, there are airlines that give free wifi to smart phones. You can change the browser name on your laptop to one of the smart phones that has wifi built in. I'm not sure how it is done though and only certain browsers will let you change them.

I love Wi-Fi but in case of Airplanes for safety reasons, I prefer if there's Ethernet. Because Wifi Signals, I think can interfere with Radio Signals from the Airplane

It would have to be a really long flight for it to be worth while. I prefer to listin to music or sleep on a plane. Kind of nice to get away from a computer screen every once and a while.

i think WiFi on a plane is a great idea, it will give people something to do while they are flying long distances, also if the WiFi is not free and people have to pay to use it like public hotspots it also means that the airline can make money from it. if all the planes i got onto here had WiFi i would actually use it!
