I'm interested in adding the Netgear RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WNDR3700) to my home network. I currently use an Apple Time Capsule (connected to a cable modem) for wifi and backup of a Mac desktop and laptop, and to create my home network. Will this work? Can it improve the strength of my wifi network? I still want to use the backup feature of the Time Capsule as well.

yes you can, you just plug your modem into the netgear router instead of the time capsule, and have the time capsule plugged into one of the ethernet outlets on the netgear router, your mac will still be able to find the time capsule once connected to the netgear router....

Does this make sense?

Yes, thanks. Don't you think this will be a better setup with more ability?

well, i dont know much about the netgear router itself - if its any beter performance wise, than the time capsule, they both work on 802.11N. The setup will work thats for sure, if you do a little research and find that the netgear outperforms the time capsule, then go for it. :-)

hope this helps

Yes, thanks again! I believe the Netgear will outperform the time capsule.

I've got this up and running as you suggested. It all works, but my mac can only "find" the time capsule if it is selected as the Wifi access point. If I select the Netgear wifi, then the mac doesn't "see" the time capsule. Is there any way to allow both simultaneously? I cannot use the back-up feature while using the stronger Netgear router signal.
