I know that buying some oem software is legal but I read that you need to sell it with a piece of hardware, such as a hardrive. I'm almost definitely going to buy windows 7 oem version for my mac because it's much cheaper, but will I have to purchase a piece of hardware with it to do so?

id just like to add to Ross's comment that, OEM software will work just fine on a MAC... so despite what he says about legality... just go for it.. save a bit of cash.

OEM software is meant for people building computers from scratch and either using them or selling the computer on. It is not legal to use OEM software on a Mac as it is not home built or being sold as a custom made computer.

Sorry to break your dream of a cheap operating system. Good luck on finding a better deal...
