Based on what you have seen in your day to day lives do you believe that society is becoming ignorant?

I wouldn't say society is getting 'dumber' however I would say that the common sense of individuals has greatly decreased (or the benchmark for what is considered common sense has increased).

It also depends on how intelligent the analyser is, i.e. if an international professor of biology compared himself to society then of course society will look dumb in his eyes because he can comprehend biology far better than the majority of people out there.

It also depends on how society is. Because in my opinion, I would say society has developed a reliance on technology therefore they may seem 'dumb' without the use of technology.

No, I think the number of unenlightened people has increased with the overall population. Though, it seems like society has become more unintelligent.

No, but the amount of people running around and acting all sophisticated really makes me angry. The people who think they are smarter than everyone. I'm sure there are lots of younger people on the internet. But there is no reason to call them an idiot for something the misunderstood.

I actually think people are speaking slang alot less.

I agree that people, in general, are speaking much less slang. However, the older generation still sees slang as a problem as the "new" slang is harder to understand, and often doesn't even make sense to the ones who are saying it.

Maybe not dumber as in brain power but I"d say mentally lazy in the "herd" mentality sort of way by not choosing to think for himself or herself. Definately "dumber" by greed, selfishness, self-centeredness, inconsiderate to others and to the environment.

Some of them get smarter, some of them get dumber. The smartest people get the most chances in life off course...

I think reality TV has the potential to play a huge part in influencing people to subconsciously become less or more intelligent, depending on whether they watch it or not. If you haven't seen it already, try watching the film "Live!", as this film does a great job at showing what could potentially happen to reality TV, and how the general public may react to it.

I've noticed that people that get smart, they get really smart, and people that get dumb, they get really dumb, maybe it has something to do with the new media, (maybe = for a fact [that's the way I think]) I'm not blaming computers or TVs, but their content, computers help us BIG-time... you can download a book of the internet but at the same time you could download a game and just play for ever... see what I mean?
