How do I install Linux Ubuntu (sorry for spelling) on my new primary hard drive? |
|
you put the disk in the drive boot to it and tell it where you want it to install, alot like windows |

If you haven't already done so, download & burn the Ubuntu image to CD/DVD. Power on your PC & enter your BIOS settings page (each PC is different- some want you to hit "del", others have their own key, which will show on the bottom of the screen as the PC starts up). Look for the "boot order" or "boot" tab. You need to change the default boot order to CD/DVD drive as first device. By default, most systems are set to boot to hard drive first. Put your Ubuntu disc into the PC, hit "F10" or tab down to "save settings & exit"- from here, upon reboot, you ought to be brought to the Ubuntu setup screen. Unless you've been told or shown otherwise, install with the default settings. Good luck! T |

Burn the disk image (.iso), reboot, enter the boot menu, insert disc, boot from disc, install (distro), choose partition (in this case) all the disk, a few configurations, and there you are! You have been dirty'd in you are welcome, Swing by the hip now Swing! |
