My laptop is only around two months old and even though the fan is very quiet, it still annoys me! Does anyone else share this annoyance?

I worry when I don't hear the fans running! I like the sound of my car engine running, my heart beating fast when I see a pretty woman, and stuff like that. When children are too quiet (ie. my nieces & nephews ... gotta checkout what's going on. The same goes for the fan of my laptop.

Mine doesn't annoy me, but that's because when it's loudest I am generally doing something that drowns out the fan noise -- playing a game or watching a movie with the sound cranked up.

It doesn't annoy me all that much, but he fans make ALOT of noise when I am using flash, so that can get very annoying when I am watching a video online.

I'm not disturbed by it too much, because I primarily use my laptop at school. If I were on a MacBook, I would purposely boost the fans up through SMC Fan Control so that it can stay running at a cooler speed (I always try to keep my computer under 110 degrees Fahrenheit, desktop or laptop).

If your laptop (or desktop) fan is louder than you think that it should, your computer is probably dusty. I recommend cleaning out the fans and other areas of your computer.

I never get annoyed by mine. My laptop is running at 153F right now and it's doing absolutely nothing. The fan is in a moderate stage at the moment. If my fan were to stop running, my laptop would be toast in like 2.5 seconds. I'm quite happy that it is audible :)

Gavin, You need to remove some software. Like iTunes. It ruins your battery to have so much heat. Your processor should idle at like 3%.

haha the lack of ram should be whats annoying you - your fan is saving your computer from melting.

indeed, that and my lack of funding to get a new computer are the cause of my personal hell

My works is a quadcore and is always overheating. I'd rather dual and less over heating

I love my fans... without them, we would not have laptops to begin with!!

Mine does not annoy me. What does annoy me is the CD/DVD drive.
