what makes a speaker good for low sounds or high sounds or mid range. is it the size of the speaker?

The physical size really doesn't make much of a difference. The amount of power required by speakers hints better quality but not always. ex 150watt speakers are better than 70 watt. It also has a lot to do with the magnets inside and the digital noise. Speakers can only get so good, maybe good enough for your pets to hear. The average human can hear frequencies between 20hz and 20,000 Hz. That is if you have perfect hearing, otherwise the range is a lot smaller. Don't forget to look for the amplitude as well when looking for speakers.
