I've heard that the reason AMD processors are not as favored as Intel processors is because Intel has certain technology in their processors that allows them to shutdown if they overheat and that they have patented this technology? And because of this, AMD cant use the tech to have their processors automatically shutdown at a certain temp. And if this is true, doesnt that mean AMD chips burn out quicker? |

That isn't the case anymore. All AMD processors since the release of the Athlon 64 in 2003 have had Thermal Shutdown Protection built in. This allows the computer to shut itself off if a certain CPU temperature is reached, saving your processor from burning itself out if the heatsink can't keep it cool for any reason. |

AMD has had this tech since back in '03 when the Athlons trotted out. |

As of 2003 they now do. I have an Intel Centrino, and works great! I haven't had any problem's yet. |
