If you're going to be sending a lot of people documents you've created, or if you're going to be doing a lot of presentations, I would go for Office. If you're just reading documents and maybe sending out the occasional spreadsheet or word document, I would go for iWork. True, they are "compatible", but if you're going to be working with PC people, Office is the way to go. And about presentations: yeah, Keynote looks better than Powerpoint, but again, there's always a chance something might not interface or translate over quite right if an Office user watched it. I wouldn't take that chance, especially if it's for an important project.

iWork is way better from Macs...Microsoft Office is much better for Windows...I tried running Office on an iMac...and it was horrible...I couldn't get anything right on that machine. However, Office is very nice on PC...so, I think it really depends on your preference and Operating System

If you are someone that is on the road and makes presentations fairly often, I recommend using iWork. If you are someone who needs to be compatible with Windows computers, use Microsoft Office.
Both of these applications are very well featured, and it depends on your taste.

iWork, it is fully compatibly with Microsoft, but the documents just look better. My pages document impress all my windows using friends, and if they are put on the our touch screen board in the class they look amazing. My Keynote presentations can play through Quicktime on Windows and is always a crowd pleaser.
