I have Avast on my PC, Avast came with the PC. But I really like AVG, I love the link scanner. Also I had AVG on my old PC and it worked a treat! So should I uninstall Avast and use AVG?

What are your views on AVG and Avast?

Thank you.

Even the free version of AVG works like a charm. If you'd buy the full AVG it would protect your computer well. I think that AVG would be better. I used Avast a long time ago so I can't remember it well, but I would go with AVG.

I use Avast, because it is a low memory resource virus program. Also Microsoft Security Essentials has been getting good reviews. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

I like Avast better, except for when it woke me up in the middle of the night saying "VIRUS DATABASE HAS BEEN UPDATED". I use Microsoft Security Essentials now. Very fast, efficient, haven't had any problems.

I like Avast because it uses less resources than AVG and it has better detection results than AVG. And as someone else mentioned Microsoft Security Essentials is good also. I use it on my grandparents computers because it is very self efficient(require less user action).

I like avast as it has a awesome voice. Bitdefender is really good and kasperski is real good too. So anyone of of those I like. AVG is alright but I just don't like its interface.

I would go with AVG, but the new Security Essentials suite from Microsoft is kind of a best way now.

Avast for sure, it's ranked higher by AV Comparatives than AVG (which has been progressively sliding down the charts).

The "free" AVG is terrible, and the "free" Avast scanner is better.

But:

The "paid" AVG is the best...where as the paid Avast is decent.

Free versions, go with Avast. I personally don't like AVG it uses up to much CPU and has made my system choke plenty of times. I have never used either of the paid versions of those two only the free versions. I like Microsoft Security Essentials as well and have used it before until I changed to Kaspersky antivirus 2011.

Bottom line: Avast free is far better than AVG free, based on my experiences with AVG I have never bothered with the paid version.
