Ever since I bought my first MP3 player a few years ago, I've been using various different programs and services to download music as either part of a subscription, or listen to music based on my personal taste in music. Although I generally have hard-copies of my most treasured CDs, there's just something about being able to listen to music without having to go out specifically to pick up a new CD that appeals to me, as I can just as easily add the some or all of the tracks to my download list in Napster or Spotify, or set up a personalised playlist online that generates new tracks based on what I like and dislike. As an alternative to these subscription based services and music-streaming services, other companies such as eMusic and Apple provide ways to purchase music online for offline listening, for those who either do not want to be bound by DRM or tied into having an active Internet connection in order to listen to their music library. The way in which this is done in the case of emusic is that users pay a monthly fee in order to choose a set amount of tracks without any form of DRM or copy-protection from emusic's extensive online catalog to download, whereas Apple's iTunes store allows users to purchase tracks on a track-by-track and/ or album-by-album basis, depending on their preference at the time of purchase. What services do you use online in order to make listening to music more convenient for you? Alternatively, if you do not use any online services to listen to music or download music to listen to at a later date, why not, and what could convince you to start listening to music online? |

I myself have an ipod (very old 2gb nano) but i also have both a windows pc filled with media player content (music etc) but i also own a macbook with an itunes library full to the teeth. Even that being said i still pay for spotify unlimited as it gives me instant access to the latest songs and i dont have to STORE data on my macbooks measily 160gb hard drive. :) |

I use DI.fm, club977.com and shoutcast.com for streaming. no need to download since most of what I want to listen too in on a stream at any given time. |

I still purchase a fair amount of music online, and lately my purchases have been about 50% / 50% split between Amazon.com's music store and the iTunes Music Store. I tend to purchase single tracks on these services, not full albums. For streaming, I'm currently looking at additional options, but so far I use Pandora, blip.fm, Shoutcast on my Chumby and last.fm. |

I prefer Grooveshark over the others, because the interface is fairly well laid out. It also plays the music that I want to hear. I get to make the playlist. If I do find a better one, I would probably switch to that, but for now, I'm sticking with Grooveshark. |

Pandora or Last.fm are both excellent. I tried Rdio but it's $9.99 per month! Why? it offers nothing better. |

I use Slacker sometimes, and Last.Fm. I prefer Slacker to Pandora - I find the audio quality better. |

I use Pandora and Last.fm and then i will download off of iTunes or I recently got a Borders gift card so i use that to download music of their website. |

I use Spotify for some time, and from my experience it's a pretty nice online streaming service. |
