In your opinion, what is the best overall mid tower case? In other words, which case combines looks, cooling, features, and value the best? |

When I get a case I will usually get a cheap Antec case. They seem to work well for me, I don't like spending lots of money on a case. I prefer to get a cheap case and spend that money I save getting more RAM, a better processor, etc. |

IMO the coolermaster scout. I have it for my lan pc. It is fantastic! The handle is real sturdy. Has lots of fans. Looks great. Can add 2 more fans. It has a big fan on the front. I think its a 140mm a fan on top which is the same. A fan also on the back which is quite small. The 2 addable fans on the side are 120mm. It also has a little switch on top to turn off the LED's :) And 4 extra USB slots on top. Most cases only have 2. The one problem is it can't put in 5970 video cards and a few of the much larger cards unless you cut them or something. As well as a few coolers for your CPU....but still great case...it's not too expensive as well. I got it for $120 and that's Australian currency. In America probably 80-90$

I generally hate going into the $80+ range for a mid tower since you can generally get a decent full tower for that price. I currently use a antec 300 they cost around $50 but they cool extremely well, it provides direct airflow to all of the components in the case and has a front air filter about 1 cm behind the metal grill that can easily be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner hose. it may not be a flashy case and the overall design may be a little bland but you wont find other cases in it's price range that will match it's cooling. PS the power supply is mounted in the bottom of the case instead of the top with the top 140mm fan and the rear 120mm fan and the 2 front 120mm fans and the large fan also in the power supply, the air in the case is basically being replaced every second so the ambient temperature in the case basically stays at room temperature. If you want to test which parts are getting direct airflow in a case, simply wet your finger with rubbing alcohol then move your finger around in the case(with out touching anything) you will be able to easily feel the areas with direct airflow. in the case of the antec, the pci/pcie slots get direct airflow, both chipsets get direct airflow and the heatsink gets direct airflow and the power supply gets direct airflow behind each area of direct airflow is generally a fan that pulls air out of the case so the design is very efficient

This case will do just fine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133089&cm_re=Level_10-_-11-133-089-_-Product But it is too expensive. The $30 cases will work just as good, they just won't look as awesome. |
