Windows Vista registry cannot load lhe hive file

STOP: c0000218: (Registry File Failure) The registry cannot load the hive (file): SystemrootSystem32ConfigSOFTWARE or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

3	If you have a Windows Vista installation DVD, insert it and reboot, go through the recovery center. If you don't have this DVD, you can download a recovery CD here. That page also guides you through how to write the CD. answered Jul 13 '10 at 12:33 Seb (suspended)
