No. I don't think so. Apple is known for not recalling products. I don't think they've ever recalled a product. Plus I don't see it really as a big deal. For one, most people text now rather than talk. Two, you'll probably be using a case on it anyway. Three, it only affects certain phones. Four, when people do FaceTime, they'll be on Wi-Fi. 2
Young man,
Yes I already known this. I'm saying the majority of people using the iPhone 4, will probably be using FaceTime. The death grip only affected the radio frequencies, not the Wi-Fi signal. 1
The majority of the people using the iPhone 4 will be using it as a phone. That's its primary function as a device, a phone... Also, holding the phone normally in your LEFT HAND is now a "death grip"? No, the majority of people taking advantage of the front facing camera will be using FaceTime. And its been called a death grip. Don't you read stuff? they have recalled powerbook g4 batteries... i was affected I've had my iBook G3 recalled and a defected iBook G4 battery recalled. Though Apple, Dell, HP, and others had battery recalls due to one of Sony's manufacturing plants. You actually think the majority of the people buying the iPhone 4 are buying it specifically for the video chat? I'm sorry, but that's ludicrous. It's a phone, it's primary function is to be a phone, people buy it to use it as (gasp) a phone! Video chat is a secondary function to that purpose. Yes, I know it has been called a "death grip", I was pointing out the absurdity of that nickname when all you have to do is hold the phone completely normally in your left hand in order to cause the antenna problem. Hardly a "death grip"

Article : Consumer Reports retracts iPhone 4 reccomendation. Your thoughts?
Some ways to avoid an iPhone 4 Recall is if iPhone 4 owners:

I can't recall my friends with an iPhone, because of some antenna issues. ;) |

No, there won't be an iPhone 4 recall. If there is one, I'll eat my cleaning cloth. I'm sure there's a precedent here regarding production defects that diminish the capacity/usefulness of a device for a group of consumers, but folks seem to be forgetting that most product recalls are due to safety issues either inherent in the design of a product or as a result of some production defect. A product simply not living up to advertising claims or consumer expectations is not, generally anyway, a cause for a recall. It is cause for a class action lawsuit, if enough well-heeled consumers are mad enough to take it to court. Recall-worthy examples: Ford F-150s that could catch fire when parked without the key in the ignition and burn down a home, Prius accelerators that "stick" and send drivers flying down the highway applying their emergency brake and brakes to stop, medications laced with toxins or the wrong mixture of chemicals, etc. Wikipedia has a good overview as well as a chronological listing of major product recalls in history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Product_recall Okay. Recall might not be the correct term. Apple, Inc. will FIX all iPhone 4 antenna issues, at their expense. Whatever that means. When Macs had failing floppy drives, they shipped out replacement drives and/or customers sent them in for repair. All companies (that want to stay in business) do that if issues with their product are discovered and garner a lot of consumer or industry attention. |

Consumer Report hasn't confirmed anything, they did an unscientific report like any other blog. There is no recall, nor will there probably be one as this is an issue with most antenna based devices. It's simply been brought to the public with iPhone 4, but this is nothing new. btw, consumer report, although can't recommend it, also apparently ranks iPhone 4 as the currently best cell phone with 2 more points than the Evo 4G and iPhone 3GS. An actual electromagnetic engineer on Consumer Report's report: http://mobileanalyst.wordpress.com/2010/07/12/iphone-4-report-consumer-reports-study-is-full-of-crap/ Forbes take: http://blogs.forbes.com/investor/2010/07/12/the-iphone-4-antenna-unravelled/ Apple's open letter: http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2010/07/02appleletter.html An Antenna Expert saying Apple is Right: http://www.pcworld.com/article/200453/antenna_expert_apple_is_right_iphone_4_signal_woes_overblown.html David Pogue explaining that most users aren't having this issue and can't seem to replicate it: http://pogue.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/25/the-mystery-of-the-iphone-death-grip/ Another Electromagnetic Ph. D. Explaining this is an issue with all devices: http://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/city5/iphone_4_sensitivity_to_fingers_explained_by_a/ I am familiar with the fact that consumer reports has ranked the iPhone 4 as currently being the best cell phone out there and I know that it is not the most scientific test but it is better than bridging the antennas and trying to make a call (like cnet did) |
|
They've recalled batteries (which is an obvious DUH since they could explode) and they've given money to iPod Nano buyers. They'll surely do SOMETHING about the issue, but the whole recall thing is just overhyped. They won't recall it. Recalls are for products that can potentially cause harm to their users, not for dropping calls. In all honesty though, they should provide a free in-store fix, whether it be a replacement or a coating over the antenna, or even just a free case. It will help protect their image as a company. But in all reality (again), I can't say I care too much. I don't own one. Doesn't affect me. So I guess I get to laugh in all of you early-adopters' faces? Ha, haha, hahahahahaha? Nah, that would be mean. :) |
|
No I do not think it will. The antenna issue is only really in one place. |
Look what AppleHack23 found ...
I TOLD YOU SO! RECALL!! > Is Apple Silently Recalling the iPhone 4 Now!?!
Yah I'm surprised nobody else is reporting this because the iPhone does look surprisingly different.
And I wasn't disagreeing with you I believed that apple was eventually going to recall the phone
Bernstein Research Places iPhone 4 Recall Price Tag at $1.5 Billion
Yah I saw that and that's part of the reason why I asked if it would be recalled
Well they didn't. No recall.
Why did you close it? They are reassessing the problem in september
