My Birthday is coming in 4 days. I'm leaning towards a PS3 because all i have is a Wii and a PS2. Post a comment saying what you think is a good present for a soon to be turning 15 year old teen. I already have a Laptop and I really don't think i need a new one.

This question is a duplicate question of one of my questions. How does that qualify as a duplicate question?

(Jul 14 '10 at 18:06) Kevin Mortiere Kevin%20Mortiere's gravatar image

I think you just answered your own question...

(Jul 14 '10 at 18:07) ageekmom ♦ ageekmom's gravatar image

But it is my own question how does that make sense? unless you can find a question that is a duplicate that doesn't belong to me then it should stay open.

You can't post duplicate questions, period. The fact that you're repeating yourself makes it excessively annoying.

(Jul 14 '10 at 18:11) ageekmom ♦ ageekmom's gravatar image

The fact that no one has commented saying that this is excessively annoying proves the point that the whole point of this website is to answer questions. Even if they are excessively annoying or stupid in someway.

Duplicate questions aren't allowed, period. It simply clutters the community and makes it difficult for people to find new and interesting things to answer.

Annoying or not, it's against the rules, and that is that.

(Jul 14 '10 at 20:26) Kat ♦♦ Kat's gravatar image

It a poor question because it's simply more of a complaint than a question and you made dupes.

thanks for clarifying that Kat.

I'm afraid I can't help you there since I don't know anything about you other than the fact you obviously enjoy console gaming. There aren't a bunch of games you're interested in getting? That would seem to be a more immediately enjoyable option, since if you get a PS3 you'd be limited to whatever games (if any) it comes with.

Then again, having nothing more than a Wii myself, I'm not able to imagine what benefits owning a Wii, PS2 and PS3 fill for you.

When I was your age I ran a hobbiest dialup Bulletin Board System and so my Christmas and birthday gift wish lists were always computer equipment to upgrade my BBS -- new hard drive, new external CD-ROM drive, new software, shareware software registration fees, new/faster modem, etc. Things I could immediately put to use and start enjoying!

Occasionally, I'd ask for things like accessories for my camera (film camera, when I was that age) or a check to put towards something, like a trip I was planning. These days I maintain my Amazon.com wishlist year-round, not just for my husband's and parents' benefits but also for my own when I find I have some spending cash available. It makes these sorts of things a lot easier to figure out and not on short notice.

I'm flattered at the correct answer selection, but you still have 4 days to let fellow geeks help inspire you with ideas--might've been premature? What are you leaning towards after my post, out of curiosity--the PS3 or something else?

You should get the iPhone 4, there's a lot more games for it, and I can do a lot more on it than a gaming console can do.

It's my Birthday, for about another 1.25 hours.

I think that the PS3 is good, because of it's Blu-Ray player. I think that the Xbox is better for multiplayer games. Personally for me, I'd choose a Macbook Pro, or a Macbook, because I need a laptop (schools right around the corner again).

Happy Birthday. My birthday is Saturday, July 17. I'm also turning 15.

I tend to agree with catchatyou... as much fun as consoles are, you can't go wrong with a laptop for school usage.

Where I don't agree, is the choice of laptop. I would go for a PC with Win7.

But that's the great theological divide - I just think you get more computer for the same buck with a PC than a Mac.

BTW - happy birthday! mine's coming up on July 26 - I'll be 49 then :-)

It's all personal preference. I prefer a Mac, and you prefer a PC. I've converted all of my family except for my mom over to a Mac. You pay for what you get...

You say you have a laptop which is cool but you might need an external hdd. What os are you running if you have yet to try one you might want to. Or you can just ask for money and save it.

You didn't mention the iPhone... If you're into Apple's products, you should buy one... A PS3 is great too! If you prefer the PS3, then buy it!!

You could always go PS3. Then again you couldn't go wrong with a xbox 360 either. It was my birthday today and my partner bought me an Energizer Power&play Charging system for my xbox360 controllers. sweeeeeeeeeeeeet.

@ageekmom said that he used to wish for a new hardware at the same age as you. I would also want new hardware for Christmas and birthday. That would be a great present. But at every Christmas and birthday I almost always buy my gifts myself so I know that I would get the right thing, and I also note to my parents to not make me a big surprise (especially tech) - there's always some smaller stuff and I'm okay with that. A PS3 would be a good choice also if your more of a console gamer than a PC one. I would go with upgrading my hardware. In the end it's still up to you what to get.
