Not 100% certain furniture polish will do it, but it's bloody-well worth a try. I've buffed some deep scratches with that stuff. DVD-rentals also have buffers that might help. Ask. Can't hurt.

Most video rental stores have disc resurfacers that can get most scratches out for a minimal fee.

I heard of this happening to my friend when his dog knocked over his reg Xbox 360. I think it unbalances the discs spinning causing it to scratch against something inside the system. As for the return policies not a clue.

I recommend using proper capitalization and punctuation. I usually just ignore questions that don't have that.

The best option is calling Best Buy up and seeing if you can do that. It's also your most reliable source.

i recommend just chilling out and not being so uptight.... if you really care that much about Punctuation and Capitalization, you really need to get out more lol... its the internet and thats how people talk here

It doesn't matter if that's how people talk here. Ask most people who are successful in life if they want to sit and read improper grammar. I'm not being uptight at all...it's just the way that it needs to be done.

Most people that know what they talk about have very little respect for people who can't do some of the simplest things in the world.

oh oh i'm very sorry that you care so much about something like this ha ha... and if you are actually being serious right now and care that much about something like this you should REALLY get some help or get out and enjoy life more....

Try filling out a resumé like the way that you post things online and see how far it gets you.

(Jul 14 '10 at 03:23) catchatyou catchatyou's gravatar image

wow a resume and a Q&A site are 2 completely different thing lol....i find it really funny that you would even write that. And really i personally think people have the right to write how ever they want, not be told by uptight people that they have to right better! And not to be told by people who think there all so awesome because they have a good job... I personally help out at my local homeless center and have met thousands of homeless people that are a million times happier than some uptight fool who has a good job.

You can't even spell write seriously, and you expect me to read anymore than that. You should be lucky that I made it past the first letter seeing that it's not the way it should be.

FYI: I don't have a job. I am only 14 (15 on Saturday). I see that you are also 15 (from your profile). The thing is that the people who just don't care are the people that don't make it too far in life. I see that you volunteer. I also volunteer. If you counted my hours of volunteering, most people would be amazed. Since I am young, I don't have a job (but my family has big hopes for me). I do have less respect for anyone that doesn't take the three extra seconds to do it right. If you (or anyone else for that matter) would take things like this seriously, than you will get more serious answers.

When people call someone else names, that is just another sign of immaturity. I try treat others the way that I want to be treated. Unless you can prove to me that you are ready to grow up and stop having the maturity of an elementary school student, than I am willing to give you my respect.

I do make mistakes sometimes, but in cases like this when it's repeated very often, it shows that you are lazy. If one day you were to get a job for a medium sized/larger sized business and they see all of the things that would make their company look bad, they won't bother hiring you. That's why you should always do little things like that, because when that time comes in your life, you'll be sorry.

I completely agree with catchatforyou. Why not use proper punctuation and capitalization? It's simple. Just because it's the internet doesn't mean you should degrade yourself by looking illiterate. It's not hard and may take a few seconds longer. I'm only 17. I'm dyslexic, but I have been taking a spelling and grammar course for the past two years. I realize that it's actually simple to use proper grammar and capitalization. So An0nymous Helper, just because we don't replace our letters with numbers in our names, don't call us uptight.

It takes less than two seconds, and if you can get in the habit of correctly forming English sentences you'll be better off in the long run. People will treat you with more respect. Some might correct you for a while, but think of it as a learning process. You won't get that opportunity to learn by willingly forming sentences incorrectly your whole life.

My friend had the exact same problem. Except he decided to put the 360 on the side while it was reading the disk (idiot move, I know). Your 360 should be fine, it's cheap to get a mw2 replacement. You could also try returning.

ok kool thanks a lot! ( this is a dumb question lol but where do i get it replaced and for how much money? do i go back to best buy?)

I think it's normal for xbox to not go into hd mode. It depends on your tv. Besides I really see not much difference when I go hd mode. A new modern warfare should be $40-60. Bestbuy might sell it

(Jul 14 '10 at 03:31) blackbird307 blackbird307's gravatar image

just take it back to the store tell them what it is doing...if you knocked it over or anything just leave that part out....make sure you tell them you just want a exchange not your money back

You're not supposed to move the console at all while there is a disk in the console. You will cause a laser burn which is probably what has happened.

Not wanting to be mean since it's your birthday. But why would you move it when the game is in?

I nearly ruined a laptop by gently picking it up and moving it while a DVD was in its slot-load drive, once. It made a terrific racket and I thought for certain I'd trashed both the DVD and the slot-load drive, but in my case I was fortunate. However, it reminded me never to move a system when it's got a disc loaded and especially not when that disc is likely in use (spinning.)

Take it back and tell them what happened. Actually, I'd take the whole system in unless you have already verified that your XBox still reads discs properly. I'd be concerned that the drive itself may be damaged, so you will want to verify that either at home with another disc (which you may potentially ruin) or in the store with a Best Buy rep.

Accidents happen. Go in there and explain the situation and be courteous. It was your fault, but especially if only the disc is damaged, you may get lucky if you are respectful and honest.

Well, when you do that, it can scratch it. I would recommend if it no longer plays, try installing it to the hard drive on your 360 and running it like that, that is a good way to read scratched disks. You could also try getting it buffed, I know a local place, and makes disks like new.

I recommend checking out the comments just below your question. Robert posted a good link shortly after I gave your question a new title. See? Good English isn't just something you use to make yourself look good ;)
