Games have ruined my life, I'm only a kid. I stay up all night with my eyes hurting and having headaches. It has also interfered with my school work and instead of revising for my big high school tests I'm playing games. I play games without food or drink so I think I may become diabetic just like all the males on my dads side of the family. I also no longer go outside as I am afraid, afraid to die. I heard all this murder stuff on the news and most of it happened outside such as car crashes, gang riots and worse. Please help save my life again....... :( |

WARNING: The LockerGnome Community (LC) is NOT a place to get Professional Medical/Mental Treatment! The LC is comprised of mostly young geeks wanting to win some kind of keyboard. If this is an Emergency, go to a hospital. I'm not a doctor, but weight gain & no exercise will increase your chances to get Diabeties. Take up Martial Arts. You'll get exercise, learn self-defense, and gain confidence. If I were you, I'd be more afraid of getting Diabeties, having to inject myself with insulin everyday. If you're addicted to gaming, then SELL ALL YOUR GAMES & GAME CONSOLES! |

hah wow you still get headaches? You ain't that addicted then. |

First off, I commend you for posting the question. The fact you can articulate the problem(s) here, online, is a good first step. However, you need to talk to a licensed therapist, your school guidance counselor and/or another trusted adult (and hopefully that includes your parents, though it doesn't necessarily have to,) about the feelings and issues you are having. If you are truly afraid of being outside, you have a phobia known as agoraphobia and there are behavioral techniques, medications and other coping strategies available to combat that. Left untreated or unmanaged, that phobia can dramatically limit/reduce the quality of your life, so it its something you should start addressing now. There's nothing wrong about enjoying computers or computer games as long as that interest doesn't manifest itself in the ways you describe -- keeping you from proper nutrition, sleep and social interaction as well as focus on your studies. I strongly urge you to at least call your city's anonymous depression and suicide prevention hotline as many of the things you wrote seem like a cry for help before it's too late. Life can be difficult, but it is so worth living, and the best way it's lived is to walk away from the computer from time to time and experience life in full 3D. Please take care of yourself, and thanks again for posting your question. |

1) get off the computer, two cant do much in regard to the diabetic history in your family, try to avoid sugar and hope for the best 2) Your afraid to go outside? yes you hear about murders car car crashes and riots, but how often do you hear about a guy going out to get some thing from the store and retuning ok? probably not much, ITS BOARING. 3) find a girl... problem solved... |
