Buying an iPhone 4 32GB without a contract will cost $699, and will essentially be an iPod touch. You can take it back to Europe and it will work like an iPod touch. Whether or not you will be able to get a SIM card to work in it in Europe, I don't know.

Bottom line is that you can make an iPhone 4 work in Europe, but it may not work like a phone.

Yes, that makes me very happy. I'm just waiting for a jailbreak for the third generation touch. Every other device has a jailbreak for it, except the new iPhone.

In belgium Mobistar is like AT&T : Shity and stuck with it on an iPhone

The iPhone with contract is already $873 (32Gb) i think, and then a minimum of $40 a month

I hope you can buy an iPhone in america without sim-lock/contract and make it work in Europe, then i can put my pay-what-you-use card in it(you need micro-sim (but there is a way to make a normal sim into a micro-sim click here))
