I just bought the Dell Inspiron 1545 from Dell, and was having lots of problems with it. I was just wondering if I should return this and pay a little bit extra for an Alienware (also from Dell) What do you guys think?

Imo, you should just build yourself a desktop, you loose a lot of money buying from alienware, dell ext.

But if you REALLY want a laptop, Asus has some of the best gaming ones, alienware is good to.

PS, Dell sucks. Stay away.

I have always had a great experience with Dell, (Laptops and Desktops) and if there was a problem the customer service was great. I would go Alienware if you can afford it and will use the power that comes with it.

The only problem with customer service is you can't understand what half of the people are saying. They should hire some real native English speakers

I never had a problem. Maybe i got lucky with who I called to the one time.

I think you got a lemon from Dell. I would exchange it, or buy alienware.

One thing to keep in mind is that buying a store bought gaming PC will carry a higher brand tax (if you thought apple charged a lot for the hardware you get, Gaming PC companies do it much more than apple does.

If you want a gaming PC, then build your own, you will get much better specs for less money.

Also building your own PC will get you a longer warranty. When you buy a branded computer, the hardware inside may fall under their oem crap so the company that made the computer may give you a 1 year warranty on the entire system. If a part fails after that, then you are screwed as the serials on the internet hardware will not qualify you for a manufacture warranty.

But if you were to build, you would get a motherboard with an average of a 3 year warranty, a CPU with a 5 year warranty, a hard drive with a 5 year warranty, a CD drive with a 2 year warranty, a power supply with a 3 year or lifetime warranty (depending on the brand), RAM with a lifetime warranty, a videocard with a lifetime warranty (some brands may limit you to a 2 year warranty though)

PS for laptops, asus makes cheaper gaming laptops with a much lower failure rate

I've heard that it's good for gaming, but otherwise go with a Mac. Steam on the Mac is now available as well.
