After the summer I'm going to college. So, I'm willing to buy a laptop. I have some strict requirements.
First, the screen has to be 13 or 14 inch, because I have to travel with the notebook. Second, it has to have a pretty long battery life, as long as possible. Third, it must have some balls. An Atom-based notebook not what I'm looking for, more something with a i3 or comparable. fourth, budget. Not more than €1000, preferably €500-€700.
Note, don't recommend apple notebooks. They are too expensive for me and not all software is working on it and I don't know what kind of software the school owns.
Hopefully someone has a good tip.

Asus has been putting out some really nice notebooks lately. They are great budget computers that still have the power to get things done. Don't know how gaming would be on one though if that is one of your priorities.
