My dog hardly ever howls, the only time I've heard him do it before now is when he thought he was left alone for a few hours (he started howling at the front door).

I've recently picked up Guitar, and now he goes off randomly after a few minutes of playing. both Stairway to Heaven and the intro to Hells Bells seem particularly effective at getting him going.

I figure he'd leave the area if it bothered him, but he stays planted on the floor next to me. At the same time, his tail isn't wagging, so he's not exactly ecstatic either. So, what gives?

That's strange...when I used to play Stairway to Heaven, my dog used to come close, wag her tail, and be peaceful and happy. Maybe you just need more practice. Lol.

Not so sure about that. I know for sure he hates the sound of our blender; when i fire that up, he leaves the room and doesn't come back until the noise has stopped.

When I play Guitar, he just sits there howling. lol

Dogs are a lot like children, and not everyone bounds around when they hear music. My dog used to howl when the police would pass with their siren on. I figure she was "singing along", or something. She never wagged her tail. Perhaps your dog just enjoys listening to your music. He sounds like one chill dog though, man. Singing along to your songs hehe...
