Many companies known for their older games which are now considered classics have made their games available on Apple's App Store, including Sega, Namco, Electronic Arts, and id Software to name a few.

But as of yet, no games published by Nintendo have been released onto the App Store, other than in the form of illegal emulators that have been quickly pulled from the App Store within minutes of their release.

Would you buy classic Nintendo games if they were available on the App Store? If so, which would you like to see first, and why?

Personally, I'd like to see a port of the SNES game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island on the App Store, but that's just because it was one of the games I grew up on.

No, probably not, because I started playing video games after them so I prefer the more recent games. Also, I only get free apps usually :)

Even if you don't see the appeal of games considered to be classic, wouldn't you try them out if there were free versions of such games that provided a preview, eg. one level, or if the free version of the game was ad-supported or iAd-supported?

If they offered some of my favorite games and the Wii's virtual console doesn't have them, then yes I would. I would like to see To the Earth be released. It was one of my favorite lightgun games when I was a kid. The controls would have to drastically change for it to work though.

I'd agree that it'd take a considerable amount of work for these games to be as playable as they were on consoles, although I think that it's certainly possible for these games to be ported with controls that are more suited to touch-screen devices. An example of a classic game I've played on my iPhone that I think has been ported successfully with a good control scheme and no crucial gameplay elements removed is Megaman 2 by Capcom.

Nope, I like games on the iPhone sure, but classic controller games, NEED to be played with a controller, because playing lets say Street Fighter on the iPhone is hard af since you can't do all the combo moves easily like you can on the controller.
