Well, the title pretty much explains it all. Recommend me a phone at a decent price. I was looking at the Sony xperia x10. Anyone have any experience with this phone?

If you don't mind me asking, why did you get rid of your iPhone 3G[s]? That's what I have. I've been drooling over the HTC EVO 4G.

I'd wait to see which smartphones will be getting the Dual-Core SnapDragon Processor > http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/01/qualcomm-ships-first-dual-core-snapdragon-chipsets-clocking-1-2g/

What makes you want the EVO over the iPhone 4?

  • Cheaper Per Month Costs, Unlimited Data & Text, more features
  • Faster Snapdragon Processor
  • Able to Access 4G, CDMA, EDVO, etc.
  • Larger Screen
  • 8 megapixel with Auto Focus and 2x LED Flash, 1.3 megapixel fixed focus front facing camera
  • Built-In Tethering at No Additional Fee
  • microSD slot for extra memory
  • Removable Battery, so I can carry backup batteries
  • Android 2.2 (froyo)
  • Etc.

*Improvements & Updates will continue to make the HTC EVO 4G better Better BETTER without need to Jailbreak. Plus my conscience will be clear from supporting a company that condones the poor work/labor conditions of Chinese workers ... more.

Watch This, IPhone Lovers. Almost 6 million views; It's actually quite hilarious in my opinion. Typical IPhone user attitude. :)

Now that you've sold your 3GS, you'll need to get an iPhone 4! I have one and can honestly say, it is the best phone I have ever used! You don't realize how simple, and complete iOS is, and what things you can do with it, until you actually switch to another phone and the apps that you need aren't there. It happens to everyone.

Why did you get rid of it? I can't resist suggesting an iPhone 4.

Ugh. Seriously? Not after the problems I've been hearing users are having. And I'm not going to spend like 700 bucks on a phone. I HATE being tied down on a contract.

I have the Bumper case (which is now free). I have no problems with my iPhone 4 whatsoever. It's your choice to not have a contract. With a contract it would be $299 or $399. Get an Android phone if you are over Apple iPhone. I have both it and the Sprint HTC Evo. I still prefer the iPhone.

The media makes it out to be more than it actual is. Yes, we have the reception issue, but it doesn't drop the call...it stays on the whole time...and you most likely won't even touch that while on the phone.

(Jul 24 '10 at 14:21) AppleHack23 AppleHack23's gravatar image

Aqua Toshi, only 0.55% customers called in about any issues.. it has the same call drop rate of the 3GS. Most of it was FUD and overly zealous media garble.

I would suggest an iPhone 4 or a Android based device. Linux based phones seem to be getting more popular so there is nothing wrong with giving it a try.

I'd get an iPhone 4 if I were you. I have one and haven't had a single problem with it. The media is purely an ignorant source of news.

I've heard the original Droid is pretty good and has a very reasonable price. Right now I think Verizon is selling them buy one, get one free.

Well, now I'm in Canada, and the iPhone 4 isn't out yet here. Maybe...I'll give it a try. But, I can't really afford a brand new iPhone 4 with no contract. (I can't have a contract because I go back and forth from Canada to Japan about 8-9 times a year. And I need to have an unlocked phone so that I can use the Bell network in Canada and the Softbank network in Japan.

So just get it with a contract and unlock it yourself.

(Jul 24 '10 at 15:09) AppleHack23 AppleHack23's gravatar image

When I say I go between the countries 8-9 times year, it's usually for 2 months or so. It's not worth to have a contract

(Jul 24 '10 at 15:10) Aqua Toshi Aqua%20Toshi's gravatar image

So then get a factory unlocked one in Japan, and just use prepaid SIMs.

(Jul 24 '10 at 15:13) AppleHack23 AppleHack23's gravatar image

I might do that. However I need a phone NOW, until I go to Japan (going back to there in November) Is there anything you could recommend for a DECENT price 200-400 dollars that would work for me until i go to japan

(Jul 24 '10 at 15:18) Aqua Toshi Aqua%20Toshi's gravatar image

I'm in the US so our prices are different...I don't know what you guys use in Canada. But I can recommend that you get an unlocked Motorola Backflip... you can take a trip to the US, pick one up and have AT&T unlock it for you.

(Jul 24 '10 at 15:20) AppleHack23 AppleHack23's gravatar image

Most of the world uses GSM Phones! Just get an iPhone 3G[s], then JB & Unlock it. When yu're in Japan, just pop in a SIM from a Japanese Mobile Carrier, then pop back the other SIM when in Canada =0p...

You should get the HTC Evo from Sprint, because it's a 4G phone, and the iPhone 4 is a 3G phone. That means that even if AT&T someday upgrades their network to 4G, the iPhone 4 will still only be able to handle 3G connections.

Just get something really cheap with pre-paid minutes
for emergencies and save your conversations for when you're
actually with the person you want to talk with.

Depends what your needs are. If you liked your iPhone you could get a iPhone 4.
