HP is my favorite brand of computer. I've almost always had HP is my main brand of computer and they have lasted me the longest. The main reason why I buy this brand is their customer support. Everything from HP has at least a 1 year warranty; including external hard drives, webcams, etc. In addition to their customer support and their long lasting products, I like the look and feel of their products.

I was an advocate of Dell computers, but since my needs have changed I am now an advocate of self builds.

However, for average users, Dell are still fantastic. I have nothing bad to say about them and have always received superb service. The only 'niggle' is the lack of flexibility [in terms of upgrades] inside their cases, but this comes at a cost I suppose and is part of Dell's business model.

With regards to Laptops it has to be the Sony Vaio, they're fantastic with a solid build quality.

yeh, i persoanlly think that dell are a good company, but they tend to set the prices too high for me. Desktops i have started to build myself and laptops i use somthing that i can afford that has good reviews.

I've found their Desktops to still hold good value for money. Recently for clients I have been getting 'barebones builds' from Novatech and getting the other components separately which are price competitive with similar value for money and a little more affordable.

Another reason why I like HP. Inside my case there was room for 2 additional internal hard drives and 2 extra empty PCI Express places on the motherboard. I added a new graphics card and one more internal HDD. =)

I build all my PC's myself, with a small exception made for laptops. I'll usually get those form HP.

I usually prefer to build my own machines, however given the nature of the question that would not be an acceptable answer. I prefer Dell when i need to go mainstream for my computers. I think their support is stellar and they stand behind what they sell 100% I used them exclusively before switching to building my own machines.

If you serious about buying a machine I would have suggested Alienware for gaming but they were recently acquired by Dell so in essence your getting the same company.

I would have to say, HP. due to their higher failure rate, I get a lot of business fixing them. Most of the hardware repairs I do are on HP computers. with out them, I will have a lot less customers.

Brands aren't computers. The "similar question" got that wrong too. I think you meant to ask "Who's your favourite computer manufacturer?". Keep in mind some computers aren't branded. Those that are custom made may be far greater quality for cost than those that are branded. My favourite computer manufacturer is myself. My favourite commercial computer manufacturer is Lenovo.
