Blue Hardware malfunction Error?

So this issue only occurs on my Mom and step dads desktop system that they have had since 04. Its running windows XP Home Premium and frankly I dont know how to fix it. Since I'm still in school and don't technically do this as my job they are afraid to let me experiment even though i wouldn't screw it up ever more than it is now. Anyway this is the actual message

BLUE SCREEN hardware malfunction

call your hardware vendor for support

the system has halted

Has anyone encountered this problem and or fixed it? If so how? Any professional IT's know of this problem and be willing to explain how to fix it? Any help i greatly appreciated.

Uhhh, Home Premium is not a version of XP, it is just Home
