You should never forget your laptop/netbook in an airport terminal. It will not return you no matter how hard you pray to the Lost & Found bin. However, if you leave a desktop in an airport terminal it should be pretty easy to spot the guy with a mid-sized tower stuffed under his Members Only jacket. XD

Don't leave the laptop plugged in all the time, like you would a desktop computer.

That's about it. You don't have to do anything special with a laptop -- just use it!

All I can think of:

  • Desktops are able to handle more power.
  • Laptops should not be on at all times.
  • Laptops need to drain their battery once a month then go through a full recharge to maintain battery life.

Other than that, just keep in mind what drivers you need for your exact hardware and everything is the same as with a decktop computer.

dropping it from short heights. most desktops can handle a drop from less than a foot high but a laptop might crack is it has a plastic frame or the screen might break. desktops are stronger in design if you get the right kind.
