If you want the absolute best gaming experience, then that's only available on the PC.

• Higher resolutions are available on the PC, offering a much sharper picture with mroe detail visible (Most console games aren't actually rendered in HD. For example, Cod MW2 is rendered at 1024x600 and blown up to 1920x1080).
• Gaming across multiple monitors to give you ultra-wide aspect ratios and additional field of vision (believe me, you haven't really gamed until you've done it at 5760x1200 spanned across three monitors).
• Higher graphical settings thanks to how much faster PC's are than consoles.
• Hardware accelerated physics engines that are impossible to run on console hardware (The console version of Mafia II suffers greatly because of this).
• The ultimate choice in peripherals. Keyboard and mouse, game-pad, joystick, race wheel. You can use absolutely any controller you want.
• Steam is on the PC (only the "community" portion of Steam has made the jump to the PS3)! That's a huge advantage as far as convenience goes when buying games.
• PC's can emulate just about every console except the most-recent generation.

Consoles have a few things going for them, mostly the initial price-point. The hardware is old, slow, and cheap, so you can get your hands on the actual game system relatively easily. The problem is, most console games stay at $60 for quite a long time (where as PC games launch at $50), so you lose the money you saved on the console when buying the games.

There's a slightly higher initial investment when getting into PC gaming, but after you have a base system, keeping it up to date isn't much more expensive than a console. Pop in a new processor or graphics card every once in a while for $200 (roughly the price of a cheap console) and you're up to date again (and you can sell the old hardware to recoup some the costs).

Can't you agree to disagree? It depends on what you want to do! If you want to play a game that runs only on the console (or is optimized for the console), then the console will be your best option.
