Is there a problem with the U.S.'s consumer culture?

There is, but I feel it is mostly based on ignorance. Many people fail to understand the value of what they buy and thus get constantly ripped off. People then get easily tricked by ads a buy things that they don't need (usually something that they use for a few days then never touch again and it eventually ends up in the trash)
