We now have more devices to transfer data than ever before, we have USB keys, external hard drives, file hosting, and many other ways to backup our data. The CDs (and DVDs) can contain a good ammount of data BUT they have a limit of about 4-5 GB which, is most likely not enough for a power user's backup of his data. What do you think? Are CD-R and DVD-R walking slowly to their death?

Don't forget that software is still shipped on DVDs (and, older ones, CDs) and that's not gone away entirely yet. Many companies offer downloadable (either trial and/or full version) copies of their commercial software, but many more -- like many of the game manufacturers -- still ship physical discs.

Good point! However, mostly everything will be available online as time advance, and maybe the need for CDs and DVDs will be much less than before, which could maybe lead to being obsolete. But, your point does prove that they may still last a long time, I didn't think about that at all. Thumbs up well deserved! :)
