I have this motherboard with a little connection on the side of it. I was wondering what it was, does anyone know?

It is on the top right of the attached picture. Motherboard

Looks like a daughter board is supposed to slot in there. This is most likely an OEM designed motherboard with particular case hardware in mind.

Reminds me of an old Compaq I had (It had pins across the top like that). Pushing the motherboard tray into its locked position would force those pins into a daughter board mounted to the front of the case, instantly connecting the Power button, reset button, power LED, HDD LED, as well as front panel audio and USB.

Yeah, I think that's it. This is a Dell Optiplex GX260 motherboard.

It looks like an expansion slot of some sort. You could always check the documentation that came with it for any explanation of it, I'm pooped at the moment of what it could be.

I don't see any pins, but the photo makes it tough to see what's necessary to answer the question. The brown connector at the edge of the board is definatly a connector to a daughter board, and you guys are right, Dell, Compaq, some of the older Aptiva stuff and those crappy Packard Bell's had riser connections either at the middle, 45 degress to the board or on the edge. And if you're looking to use that board in another case, best wishes. It ain't happening,Bro.
