If you have Diabetes, do you control it via Diet and/or Insulin shots? | Diabetes runs on my father's side of the family. Thank GOD, that I didn't get it. Everyday he has to check his blood sugar level. It scares me that millions of people go through this everyday. I'm going to give him my iPad & buy this for my dad, and wanted your opinion.

i think you have to do both, im not diabetic but thats what i hear.

as far as for the device, its a cool idea, but why only the ipad or iphone? wouldn't it make sense to make it link to a computer too? like have a little USB port? you could market it to more people that way. you could also burn the information to a CD or put it on a USB stick and bring it to your doctor.

My dad turned 80 years old a few months ago. He has difficulty with technology, so he leaves that to stepmom. Currently, he still pricks his fingers to test --- then writes the results in his log book. I believe there are usb & bluetooth/Wi-Fi solutions, but the VAMC hasn't stepped up, so I will.

I am a type 1 diabetic. If you have type 1, you will control your disease through taking insulin and testing for your blood sugar. If you have type 2, you will control through diet. Type 1 is auto immune, so therefore, you can't control whether you get it or not. Type 2 is generally found in overweight adult.

I don't really understand what this device does? It looks cool though. It would be neat if every time I checked my blood sugar, the number would automatically be sent to my iPhone - or an iPhone attachment.
