Where does your Drinking Water come from? | The other evening I read a disturbing article about what's in our drinking water, and it freaked me out. I've been drinking water from the tap & public drinking fountains for as long as I can remember. Only recently have I been buying bottled water. Do you use a water filtration system like Brita, PUR, or other? I bought this a few nights ago.

I always buy bottled water, because I don't like the taste of the tap water in my house. The tap water in my girlfriends house is very good though.

It just depends for me I guess. :)

question does your gf have a well?

For the 20 odd years I lived at home I drank my water from a well that supplied our house. For about 12 years it was just a pond that was open to the elements and would have frogs and animals living in it. It would sometimes almost dry up in the summer.

Later on 3 big concrete rings were sunk into the ground and a lid was put on top of it. Nothing added and minimal filtering. Just good old water right from the ground.

The local dams supply water to loads of places in the UK including Birmingham.

WOW! I never knew!! How's the taste of your water?!?

It's tastes wonderful! Naturally filtered with lots of minerals (dominant rock is limestone) so most of us have water softeners installed in our homes/workplaces to protect our pipes and keep the water from being too high in some deposits (but you can't taste the difference.)

Water is not suppose to have a taste.

I have an under the counter water filter, not touching any tap water.

We have an on tap Brita filter that works great. We won't pay for bottled water that comes from the tap anyways.

It comes from the tap. Some people say tap water has a bad taste but I disagree.

I imagine it depends where you live and where it comes from.

I prefer to have my water filtered.

I Just buy bottled water, it tastes way better than tap water. And which disturbing article did you read about drinking tap water, what did it state?

Over the past few years I bought a Pur Water filter.

But I just never get around to replacing the filters themselves.

It seems every time I move, the current filter gets clogged so it needs to be replaced.

I keep forgetting to buy a replacement.

I've been concerned about my health, so I drink far less soda.. and much more water.

So far the water hasn't appeared to hurt me.

My house has it's own well for water. We have a filter and a softener. It's fine for showers, dish washing, some drinking. But I actually use a Pur water filter for my drinking water which I put in the refrigerator. The tap tastes fine usually, but I just like that clean water taste. Or lack there of.
