Unfortunetly, there is currently no iPad TV Tuners out there, though it sounds like a great idea.

Update

Recently at Macworld, I found this company that makes a product to let you watch the TV channels you have in your house to stream to the iPad, here is a link to the product http://tvplug.co.kr/products1.php

Update: there is one in europe soon (though not USB based) (I am not sure if it will work in the US with the US sending MPEG 2 DTV over the air in Europe sending DVB DTV over the air stream there) http://gizmodo.com/5680606/tizi-puts-live-tv-on-ipads-with-just-a-standalone-box

Since the iPad doesn't have a USB port that won't really work out anyways. I'm not sure if SlingBox has an App for the iPad but that's about the closest I think you could get to having a portable TV.

If you live in the UK you can use your iPad to watch live TV and on demand TV using BBC iPlayer for free (you have to have had paid TV licenses), but you can only watch BBC channels.

If you have EyeTv on the mac you can get the EyeTv app for the iPad and stream live TV from the computer, and watch recorded shows as well.

Not that I have been able to find. Your best bet would be to pay for Hulu Plus which is now only $8 a month(eat out one less time if you find that not worth the money). They also have a seven day trial. This is starting to sound like a advertisement. Anyway, that to me seems like the best way to stream TV but then again if you wait maybe if iTunes goes to the could then you will be able to play whatever you have bought as long as you have Internet.

Here is a forum talking about it but they never get anywhere: Click Here

They are European broadcasts and unfortunately cannot receive US over the air signals in the US since we use MPEG 2 OTA DTV and they use DVB OTA DTV/M.

If you have a TV tuner on your home desktop, you could install Orb. Then log onto Orb via your iPad and access the home desktop's TV. Viewing with the 3G connection is not always ideal, but wifi seems to work OK.

FilmOn.com

"... A new service allows you to watch network TV on your iPhone or iPad, free... at least for now. FilmOn.com offers live HD television in the US complete with commercials in what the company says is a free month-long trial. They claim that this service is "100% legal, but that didn't stop a lawsuit from a group of broadcasters. So grab it while you can: the site may not be up for long ... more"

Unfortunately they are in legal battle currently, so it may or may not go.
