What would be the best back to school software for a Windows PC I would prefer free but I will also take suggestions on programs that I might have to pay for I already have Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 and am considering the upgrade to 2010.

Office 2000 is just as good as the newer ones. In fact I prefer 2000 and 2003 over 2007 and 2010 because the ribbon just plain sucks.

Try OneNote for your note-taking endeavors.

Unfortunately you cannot buy OneNote alone. You'd need to purchase at least the Home and Student edition of Office 2010.

You can get a huge discount on office 2011 or at least 2007 (both really good in my opinion)So you can get it for almost nothing if your in college. one of my buddies got a student license from a microsoft representative at his college for $20
