I remember 2-3 years back RuneScape was the game to play. All my friends and even I were addicted, now it seems it's a ghost town. Have any of you ever played?

I've played it also, a lot. I remember that people were complaining a lot about the changes there. That was the one big reason. I also think that people just got bored of it.

I played it a while, and i remember just what "happend" that made it less popular.

It existed players that thinked everything was perfect, and those who wanted it better graphics, more quests, and so on. And JaGeX tried to live up with this, and so they did. They released that they were going to upgrade the graphics on RuneScape. Most people pretty much said, yeah, cool. But the ones who thinked it alredy was perfect was shocked. They heard though that you were going to be able to play on low graphics, but it wasnt gonna be as the old school awezome RuneScape.

It may sound weird, but i think after that everything went down. I guess its still pretty popular, but after that "upgrade" people said, nahh. We dont want it like this. And for that, they dont recommend it on to friends, and so on.

Thats one thing that happend that made ALOT of players end up quitting the game.

I, was one of those who thinked the game was perfect as it was before. After the update i though keep playing, but none of my friends did, so i pretty much end up kinda alone there and since it wasnt THAT fun, i quit.

Kay, my wall of text is done. ^.^

I would've picked the trade and wilderness updates as the ones to cause players to quit, but didn't know they were so picky and ungrateful as to quit because Jagex greatly improved Runescape with a graphics overhaul.

i quit when they made that rule about you cant trade something that has more than 3k difference in price... and when they created the great exchange... the game became less fun because you were not allowed to drop items anymore for other characters to pick up.. like if you accidently dropped a dragon helmet it was gone for good. but before you could drop something and someone could pick it up.

after that the game just became less exciting

Ah, forgot all about the trade limit. Your right, when the trade limit and that you cant drop items so other players can see it made even more players quit.

What happened to it? Well, nothing! Was awful then and it's awful now. Don't know how people got addicted to chopping wood.

I still play it occasionally. But I've gotten so far in the game, that there's nothing fun to do anymore. My dad cancelled his credit card, so there's nothing to do in a free world, since I lost my membership.

If I remember correctly Jagex screwed up the player side of the game, although they did improve things like graphics and made the menus easier to navigate through.

Ohh ho ho I cannot believe no one mentioned this. Anyone remember a year or 2 back when they destroyed the Wilderness? No more PvP. People rioted in Falador Square. Wore pink skirts. We all chanted to give us our Wilderness back. Didnt effect me because I didnt PvP, since I know if some newbie went their and lost his stuff he would cry and quit... Then all the minor changes they did finally got tiring so everyone quit

That was the biggest mistake. That and the trade changes.

(Aug 10 '10 at 13:18) AppleHack23 AppleHack23's gravatar image

Yeah the goddamn trading limit. 10,000 coin limit difrence was just stupid. I think the limit is 40,000 at most

I never really liked it, and at our school if people knew that you played it, well lets just say you wouldn't have any friends.
