I have an older MBP (From when they were still all silver), and I ran some updates on it and now whenever I start it up, it gets stuck on the Apple logo. Any ideas why?

When booting, hold down command+v. This will boot up into verbose mode and instead of the Apple logo mask, you'll get the verbose output (a black screen with text showing what's going on). See if it's hanging on something or where ever it stops at, or if it begins looping the same task over and over again. Comment back anything you see as unusual.

You could also boot by holding down command+s for safe mode. This will turn off some components and not load certain drivers like wireless and audio, sometimes this helps to get it up and running so you can then troubleshoot the issue and possibly run diagnostics like TechTool (Which you can buy or get a free copy with AppleCare, it's recommended and tests both hardware and software).

I don't know much about Apple computers but you might want to read this forum threat. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=674512
