What is windows desktop manager? I was looking at my system tray, and one of the past items was "Windows Desktop Manager". What is it? I have a HP, and windows 7.

It's very close to what you have in the text of the question "Desktop Window Manager" is Microsoft's Window manager for Windows Vista and 7. it's abbreviated to DWM, looking it up, its service name is apparently UxSms... MS isn't known for good and understandable naming schemes.
