Do you use a framework such as Wordpress or Joomla to design your websites, or do you just design it from scrach using only your own code? Why do you choose to use a framework or design your own? |

I do it both ways. My favorite web development tool is a text editor. I, along with most people, don't have the time or resources to develop a complex blogging product, so I do use wordpress for my blog. My main site is all my own code however. I am a framework developer by hobby that creates his own frameworks, I've always found it fun creating the foundation of a platform to build from. Right now I'm working on an OO based extendable platform that uses a superset (extended) of Javascript to create RIA (Rich Internet Application, or web apps) products that feel and act like desktop variants. |

For me, I like using a minimal design and I will either make one from scratch or use a free template that has the general look that I want, then edit it further. |

It depends on the website. My longest running website uses a mish-mash of various homebrew apps and some commercial applications, but I have some websites that are entirely Wordpress based. My choice is driven by what I want to do with the site and how much time I have available to create and maintain the website. |
