I have a few issues with Ubuntu 10.04, for the most part with my video card in my laptop, and whenever my laptop goes in to hibernation after i get it out of hibernation Ubuntu keeps on making the display messed up and makes horizontal lines on the screen and displacing everything on the screen and the only way to get rid of it is by restarting the computer. Is it something with ATI Video cards that Ubuntu has issues with that my laptop has? The video card is an ATI Radeon Express 200M. |

have you gone to system>admin>restricted drivers and seen if you have more than one option? if so try different drivers. |

I'd recommend using the (recommended) driver :) But basically, try as long as it doesn't work. For windows Problems reboot, for Linux problems be root. |

I've only had one real problem with video cards in Ubuntu 10.04. This only has happened in 10.04 though. The screen on an older system will flicker and then it will go black, then it will flash white bars. Then I have to reboot to get it to stop. I've had lots of problems with 10.04 so I'm sticking to 9.04 for now. |

I know this is an old post. But I recently just built a laptop with 11.10 and I am getting the samething you were getting. I have not enabled the restricted drivers because I still get errors. I had another laptop, same model diff hardware that I did not have this problem with. However only thing different was the ATI driver version. Did you ever find a fix? |

it all depends on what you computer is build to handle all around, you could always try to instal the most previous version, that is what i use, i update, not upgrade, my computer cant handle the awesomeness |
