Should I run CCleaner on my computer? I was going to run the Registry error and clean up feature on it, should I? From what I have hear it is safe.

I have no power in me to force you to do something or not, but I do have hard evidence of why you shouldn't touch your registry. The main reason that you don't want to "clean up" your registry, is because it will leave gaps in it. Everyone knows what a hard drive is like when it's fragmented, and I'm sure that you don't want your registry to be it.

I have to say that when I was using Windows, from the time that I got my computer, it only took about 1-2 years for it to be as slow as molasses in January. Don't do it, learn from others who have made that mistake.

No. What on earth would make it "safer". Defraging your registry doesn't really speed up your computer, it just deletes entries to make searching the registry faster. If you don't search your registry (believe me you don't) it's pointless. Registry cleaners are dangerous too. One did cause one of my PC's to completely crash a couple years ago. After that, I completely stopped using them. I don't miss 'em.

Messing with the registry is not safe! Do not do anything to your precious registry, or you might get this: alt text
