I've always wondered what's the best virus scanner, out of paid scanners and free scanners.

I don't know if you can really call one better then another. Do your research and compare features and system requirements and see what is a best fit for you. Some contain alot bells and whistles (some would call this bloat) and some are strictly scanners and are more light weight.

Well. I use avast, it is free! It can scan your computer automatically.

From a software developers perspective, there's an old saying: The less code, the better. Surely when considering this, a lack of antivirus software would be the best! ;)

... Seriously, though! If you know how to set up and maintain your system to mitigate the damage caused by viruses, you likely won't need to do more than a weekly scan using Kasperskys online scanner... and even then, you most likely won't find anything that can't simply be deleted in Windows Explorer for years.

I would just get Norton Anti-virus since it is only 50 bucks for a 12 month subscription. I used it but my sub just ran out so I will sub again when I get the change to do it.
