Do you really think the iPad is worth it? Or is an Android based Tablet for $200 less better?

CPU wise, the ipad is not as fast as some of the $200 android tablets, but the ipad 3 currently has a GPU that is many times more powerful than that found in any android tablet. Sadly no game company is even taking full advantage of even the ipad 2's GPU

If you need good speed and performance for a low price then go with android. If you need good speed and performance and view money as something that belongs to apple, then buy an ipad.

In terms of visuals, the ipad 3 is currently the best (even better than the iphone 4s (even though the ppi is not as high). Remember, ppi is not everything, just like how a cheap 1080p 40 inch tv will offer significantly worst picture than a expensive high quality 40 inch 1080p tv, the ipad 3 offers really good picture, though with one you are stuck dealing with a lot more proprietary crap which can be frustrating if you are not used to dealing with the limitations of the ios.

PS with most tablets (even tegra 3 ones, if you use a CPU monitoring app, you will see that very few applications actually stress the CPU, and the main limitation you will run into is storage and RAM

The nexus 7 would be awesome if they added a micro SD card slot (though some modders are currently working on adding one since it has the connections for one and enough space since there is a cutout for a rear facing camera on the motherboard which is large enough to hold a micro SD card slot (provided you are okay with a little bit of soldering and removing the back panel when ever you want to change the sd card).

I am very happy with my nexus 7 tablet. But it really depends on what you want to use it for. IOS has great apps for school/education. They also have very good games, but a lot of them are crossed platformed. So they are on android too. I thing it really is just what you prefer than what's better. Better is relative. My suggestion for you is go into a technology store, and play around with an iPad for about 30 minutes. Then try a appealing android tablet for about 30 minutes. If you have any questions about them, I'm sure that the people at the store might be able to help you.

Whatever you like better, get that.

I like the idea of a tablet as a pc, I want to be able to add my own files, usb flash download programs more memory etc. And such devices do exist to a point, the Ipad just does not do enough at this time.

I bought the New Ipad and I love it. The only android tablet worth getting is the Nexus 7 but it all depends on what size you like best and I guess the memory size. Cause Nexus 7 is maxed at 16GB which is not enough for me.

The nexus was designed to be used with the cloud, storing photos, videos, contacts, music etc/ There. If used 'properly' (Read: The way they intend) it will give you more than enough space.
