No, this is not to say your laptop can't overheat, all laptops can overheat, remember to use your laptop on a hard flat surface so that there is good airflow. It is also a god idea to spray a can of compressed air into the air vents of your laptop every so often. Use software like SIW or speedfan, to monitor the temperature of your processor, and if it starts to get too hot, it may be an idea to give it to a certified technician to open it up and re-apply the thermal paste and heat sink and clean out the fan properly, or do it yourself if you are comfortable with doing so.

All of the laptops that I've ever owned were AMD based. I've never had a problem with the CPU itself. I've been fairly pleased by AMD, and if I were going to build my own computer, I would use AMD.
