It's like really? Our dishes deserve to be washed with real lemons, but we don't deserve to drink real lemons in our LEMON juice?....

I think that is because in dish washing soap they aren't really going for the flavor but for the other ingredients that make lemon juice has which make it perfect for cleaning dishes.

Where in lemonade (or lemon juice) you care more for the taste (which can be substituted) and not the ingredients that make it good for cleaning purposes. You might even be able to argue that real lemon juice is not good for you for the exact same reason it makes it perfect for cleaning. It might even be bad for your inner organs!?!?

But then again I am not by any means an expert on lemons. I do get your point though.

I'm sure it has a lot to do with cost and shelf life, at least for the lemonade. I think using it in soap is just a gimmick because people equate lemon with clean.

I do agree cost also plays a role. But you can clean relatively good with just lemons and lemon juice can extend shelf life.

For example peal a banana and mash it then divide it into 2 portions. Add some lemon juice to one of the portions and mix it in good. You will notice that the portion with lemon juice in it will take longer to turn brown than the one without.

Edit: + if you don't use to much you won't taste it either

I doubt cost. Would play a role personally...

Lemonade is a drink, it is going to have sweeteners, stabilizers, water, color, etc added. Lemon juice, I just looked at a bottle, no artificial flavors...what lemon "juice" are you looking at? The one I looked at has lemon juice from concentrate, 2 preservatives, and lemon oil. It is not a drink, lemon juice never is. It is an ingredient, in some recipes, like in canning, bottled juice must be used, and not fresh, because fresh juice can vary in acidity.
