I bought a motherboard from Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD3 which has the 790X chipset from AMD. Now the question is can I buy a USB 3.0 PCI adaptar because I only have USB 2.0 ports? Thanks.

Yes, those adapters use the PCI-e slots as connections. The USB 2.0 connections aren't a limitation for the speed of the adapters.
