Hi All,

This is a straight forward question, should children be given some form of portable pc, to replace large expensive text books.

I look forward to your thoughts.

Hi Guy's,

Thanks for answering this question. Imagine the Education Pad, No App's. Free access to all books, Basic use. Surely this would work?

I heard of a school in England that bought something like 100, for a test, and they seem to be working fine.

I'm sorry to say but kids today are way too spoiled. Is a laptop or an iPad really necessary,to follow classes like in high school? I can understand while your in college or university but in high school? Really? Kids could perfectly without them a decade ago. I'm 25y old and while I was in high school I had to look up everything in books and I loved it. Sure it's more work but where's the magic in reading the internet for information? I personally like to learn over books/paper than the Internet.

My personal opinion on giving students a Netbook isn’t right because they are a huge distraction in class. That’s all students would do is play games and they wouldn’t pay attention in class when the teacher is teaching. If you give one grade a Netbook, you should have to give all the other grades in high school. Say if the freshmen get Netbooks in high school a sophomores, juniors, and seniors don’t get one, that isn’t considered fair. Every student should get on then.

have to say that if i had to click buttons or press digitally rendered buttons to turn pages in a book i would lose it. i like to flip back and forth through books and chapters, highlight things, and makes notes all over the place. i think obama said it best when he mentioned that an ipad is simply a distraction. im not against technology or anything, i love computers and the fun and interesting things they create, but nothing beats a real live book when it comes to studying and research.
