My favorite actor is Tom Hanks - popular answer, I imagine, for obvious reasons: he's a versatile actor able to play a "kid" in one movie and a soldier under fire or an astronaut facing an uncertain fate in others. He's also directed & produced the amazing Band of Brothers series, among others. And he's one of a very few famous people who have kept their personal life and professional life free of scandal and nonsense. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Hanks

My favorite actress is probably Jane Seymour (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Seymour_(actress); IMDB), particularly from Somewhere in Time and Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman. I haven't watched he recent work, but I just think she's a classy, timeless, beautiful, talented woman.

Great answer Ageekmom.......one of my favorite actors is Jack Nicholson....not because he has the variety, that Tom Hanks has....but because he always plays himself.....he is very carismatic.....and perhaps a bit neurotic?

Robert, Robert, How can you put Edward Norton and Bruce Willis on the same list. This freedom of speech lark is over kill here :-] Bruce Willis could not act to save his life. Don't get me wrong I enjoy his movies, you can turn of your brain and relax. But acting he can not do. Unless he acts like a Bad actor, then he might win an award. What about the people modern day cinema was created from, Olivier,Barrymore, Burton, Taylor, I will even mention Wayne [ Iconic symbol]

Leonardo DiCaprio. one word "Inception" best movie I've seen in a very long time. Leonardo always does good movies, if he's in it you know it's going to be good.

I love Mark Whalberg...Planet of the apes still blows my mind to this very day, Aaron Eckhart and Christain Bale. Especially in The Dark Knight. Two South African actors Charlize Theron and Vivi Devereaux, Jean Reno and Robert de Nero are good as well. Julie Roberts, Eva mendes and Meryl Streep complete my list.

Good acting is when the actors involved are sincere about what they are doing and really get into the meat of a performance and character without over doing it. Their talent shines through and it doesnt look like they are working too hard on screen. They just click and let the chemistry flow. Drawing me in as a person. I dont like it when an actor "forces" something in a film. you can tell they just went up to the performance or character.

I personally like Daniel Day Lewis (in my opinion the best actor currently alive) and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Yes great film. If you haven't already I advise you to watch "There Will Be Blood". Although DiCaprio is not in the cast, Daniel Day Lewis gives an amazing performance and in my opinion, his best.
