Well if you want a company to sponsor your website, you should become friends with them and explain to them how sponsoring you would benefit them and how it would benefit you. You cant expect someone to sponsor you, only if they think you have a good website / service.

Start locally, then branch out to larger, more recognized brands. That way you can work on your selling skills and you aren't competing with much more established websites and people with a lot more influence and a larger reach (audience.)
If you just want ad revenue, then join Google AdSense or another ad network.
